How to Change Your Lifestyle Completely

How to change your lifestyle completely may seem like an impossible task.

Changing your lifestyle is a very real thing.

How do you create something you can’t see with your eyes, smell with your nose or hear with your ears?

What do you need to accomplish?

Weight loss?

Sleeping better?

Thinking better?

Whatever it may be you can certainly begin to create momentum to attain those goals.

Taking the first step can be and usually is one of the most difficult in the journey and process of meeting your goal.

Why Change Your Lifestyle?

If you keep doing the same thing you have always done, you will get the same life you have now.

There is no magical pill or knock on the door that will dramatically change your life.

If you wake up tomorrow and do the exact same things, you will have the exact same life.

Knowing WHY you want to change will be your biggest motivator. You have to know why you want to change.

Your happiness and peace are in your hands. By making conscious changes you can begin to create a life that you actually look forward to.

How to Change Your Lifestyle Completely

Some believe the first step has to be a monumental one or something extremely dramatic. This is not true.

For instance, the first step in sleeping better at night may just begin with turning the lights off in your house 5-minutes earlier than your used to.

This will begin to rewire your brain to begin to prepare your body for rest.

It doesn’t seem like much in the grand scheme of what you’re trying to accomplish but it’s a start.

Getting started gives you a place to begin to build.

Maybe you’re trying to believe differently about yourself.

A simple but powerful way to start is to go to the store and pick up a new journal.

Change Starts With Self-Love

I wrote this article on improving your emotional health because I saw a huge group of people trying to change their life while they hated themselves.

You can’t punish yourself into change. You have to love yourself into change.

If you are having a hard time loving the person you see in the mirror, I would encourage you to check it out.

The most important thing is that you start. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back, because just reading this article is the beginning.

Now build on this.

The cool thing about momentum is that once you’ve created it, it becomes easier and easier. It also becomes faster and faster toward your goal.

How to Change Your Diet?

Changing your food can be one of the hardest things to change but it can make the biggest impact on your life.

Certain foods can raise anxiety and depression, food plays a huge role in your mental health.

The easiest way to change your diet is by cutting out one item at a time.

After you change one item per week you will have the momentum going to make larger changes.

An example could be, cutting out a sugary drink and replacing it with water. Do this for a week before adding in anything new.

Next week you could add in a vegetable with every supper. Don’t worry about the rest of your meals, just add your veggie in your evening meal.

Meeting small goals equals success.

People often fail because they try to make enormous changes without building any momentum.

How to Start Exercising

Adding in physical activity is great for managing stress. It can seem overwhelming when you haven’t been exercising at all.

You don’t need to try and be a CrossFit champion by next week.

Start by taking walks a few times a week.

There are many gentle youtube fitness videos for beginners that will get you moving in the right direction.

Yoga with Adriene is one of my favorite channels for beginners.

When you are getting started with anything new, a few small steps in that direction will accomplish more than trying to do everything at once.

Learn a New Skill and Stretch Yourself

One of the best ways to start making changes is to do things out of your comfort zone.

  • Sign up for a class in your community
  • Check out some books from your library
  • Ask someone who intimidates you to meet for lunch
  • Do something you are scared of

Doing things out of your comfort zone will change your neuropaths and mindset faster than anything else.

It’s important to break out of the old patterns your brain is used to.

Physical changes start with mental changes.

I have never seen physical changes take place without making a mental change first.

Remember, it’s never too late to change!
