THE BEST CRISPY AIR FRYER CHICKEN WINGS

These Ninja Foodi air fryer chicken wings will be your new favorite appetizer or meal. If you don’t have an air fryer, you’ll be missing out on crispy chicken wings that taste 100x better than your favorite restaurant.

Not only do they taste better, they are also so much healthier than deep fried chicken wings you get at a restaurant or bar.

We currently have the Ninja Foodie 12 in 1 Deluxe XL and it is a great all in one cooking appliance that is super convenient for cooking our healthy focused home cooked recipes. It’s “Air Crisp” air frying option works perfectly to make our crispy chicken wings.

HOW TO MAKE NINJA FOODI AIR FRYER CHICKEN WINGS:

Start out by combining all the seasonings for your wing rub into a small bowl. Remember to double the amount of seasonings if you are doubling the recipe.

Pat the wings dry with a paper towel and cover the wings with seasoning. Toss the wings in the bowl until they are evenly coated.

Transfer the wings onto the Ninja Foodi air frying rack, making sure they are not touching for best results. It’s really important to keep the wings in a single layer so that they crisp on all sides. If you are wanting to cook a larger amount, the wings can be packed in more tightly and you can add a second layer using the upper rack insert, but the wings will cook less evenly and won’t be as crispy. Still super healthy and super tasty though!

Cook the wings at 375 degrees (190 Celsius) for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

At 25 minutes, if you want your wings crispy, or crispier, reset the temperature to 425 degrees (220 Celsius)and cook for 2-5 minutes.

ARE AIR FRYER WINGS HEALTHY?

Generally, I think cooking wings in an air fryer are healthier than chicken wings fried in a traditional fryer. There is no oil or flour required, so there is less calories overall, and no artificial ingredients or flours. Just chicken and spices. However, quality of meat used is also important.

I recommend buying pasture-raised, organic chicken wings rather than conventional meat, ex: Tyson chicken wings. You may be able to find pasture-raised, organic chicken wings from your grocery store, or you can order online at ButcherBox.com. I got my pasture-raised chicken wings from a local farmer in my area.

CAN I MAKE FROZEN WINGS IN THE NINJA FOODI AIR FRYER?

I do not recommend making frozen wings in the Ninja Foodi air fryer. Frozen chicken wings have a ton of excess water that will cause the wings to steam in the air fryer, instead of frying.

If you want to use frozen wings, thaw them out in cold water, in the fridge 1-2 days before frying them, or defrost the wings in the microwave.

If you do decide to cook from frozen, place a small amount of water (100ml) in the base of the Ninja Foodi. Add the frozen, seasoned chicken wings on the frying rack and pressure cook using the pressure cook function for 5 minutes. After pressure cooking has finished, remove the liquid from the base of the pot and cook the wings using the method outlined in the article. This will produce similar crispy chicken wings for you to enjoy even when you haven’t planned ahead to thaw out your chicken.

HOW LONG SHOULD I COOK WINGS IN THE NINJA FOODI AIR FRYER?

For ultimate crispy wings, we recommend cooking at 375 degrees for 25 minutes, flipping half way through.

At 25 minutes, if you are wanting more crispiness, reset the temperature to 425 degrees and cook the wings for 2-5 minutes longer or until crispy to your liking.

HOW TO REHEAT CHICKEN WINGS IN THE NINJA FOODI AIR FRYER?

To reheat chicken wings using the Ninja Foodi, place wings onto the cooking rack and cook at 400 degrees for 5-10 minutes.

TIPS FOR CRISPY AIR FRYER CHICKEN WINGS

  • Spray the cooking rack basket with oil before placing the wings in the basket. This will prevent the wings from sticking.
  • Cook the wings at a lower temperature for 25 minutes, and then turn up the heat for 2-5 minutes to make the wings extra crispy!
  • Flip the wings halfway through 25 minute cooking time. This will ensure all sides of the wing get crispy.
  • If you don’t have a Ninja Foodi these Whole30 and Paleo Chicken Wings can be made in any Air Fryer using the same recipe and cooking time.
